TERMS AND CONDITIONS


Fees


The fees include all tuition, Massage Training Institute registration fee, Association of Massage Therapists Scotland  registration fee, First Aid course, the MTI Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology text book, full course workbook, ongoing student support, individual supervised clinical practice, exam fees for the Remedial and Sports Massage Module and supervision and feedback throughout the course. They do not include course books, additional supervision sessions, student insurance and exam fees for the Swedish/Holistic Massage Module.


A payment of £500.00 is required to register for the course. The remaining payment for the course may be made either by 10 monthly instalments of £290.00 each, by Banker’s Order, commencing on 2nd September 2020 and payable on 2nd of each month thereafter, or a lump sum of £2300.00, if paid by 1st July 2020, or £2,600.00 if paid by 1st September 2020. The deposit and any other monies paid are non-refundable once acceptance on the course is confirmed.


 If a student chooses to discontinue their training at any time, they will be liable for payment of the deposit plus all payments due to date.


Please note that all payments made are non-refundable. Unless the full payment is made by the dates above, the lump sum discounts will not be applicable. However, a proportion of the lump sum can be made at any time prior to the course and a payment plan will be arranged for the remaining money due.


Exam Fees (Swedish/Holistic Massage Module)


There are two exams, the practical massage exam and the written Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology exam. Each exam costs £70, resits are also £70. These must be paid five weeks prior to the exams. The fees for the Remedial and Sports Massage Module are included in the overall fees.

Location


The Swedish/Holistic Massage Module will be take place at School of Holistic Therapy, 15/1 Spey Street, Edinburgh, EH7 4PA

The Remedial and Sports Massage Module will take place at Deanfoot Larches, West Linton, EH46 7AX and Carlops Village Hall, Carlops, Midlothian.


Although the Schools will avoid it if at all possible, course dates or venue may be changed if necessary.


Attendance

Please arrive on time each day. If you are going to be late you must inform the tutor. If you are unable to attend please get in touch with the tutor in time for an assistant to take your place. You are required to attend each weekend. If for some reason this is not possible, extra tuition can be arranged with the course tutor. This will be charged at £45 per hour for the Swedish/Holistic Massage module and £50 per hour for the Remedial and Sports Module and may be shared with other students.


Resits (Remedial and Sports Massage Module)

Students will be allowed to resit any part of the final assessment once only. This will take place between one and two months after the end of the module. A resit fee of £50 will be charged for a theory exam resit and £80 for each element of the practical exam requiring a resit.


Appeals

Any appeals should be made in writing to the Principal within 10 working days of the results being issued.


Insurance

All students must be insured to practice remedial and sports massage before commencing the course. Student insurance can be obtained from Balens at a discounted price, telephone number 01684 893006 (ask to be put through to the Block Insurance Department, although you are buying individual insurance, and tell them that you are a member of the Association of Massage Therapists Scotland or the MTI). Application forms are available on request.


Discontinuation of Training

The Principals of the School reserves the right to discontinue the training of any student who is liable to bring the profession into disrepute.


Complaints

Any complaints should be made in writing to the Principals within 10 working days of the incident.


Course Material

Course material will consist of comprehensive handouts, dynamic spreadsheets and video links. Students will therefore require access to email, the internet and Microsoft Office and have a working knowledge of each.


Equipment

Students will require a portable couch for case studies and course days.

Every effort will be made to cater for special needs. Please notify us as soon as possible if special requirements will be needed.
